Unlike many other countries where waiting times for kidney transplants can range from 8 months to over 5 years, Iran has eliminated waiting lists for kidney transplants. This is due to the high number of living donors and the unique Iranian Model of Renal Transplantation.

So the essential second question is arrived.

Iran has a government-regulated and funded system of living unrelated to kidney donation. This model, also called “Living Unrelated Renal Donation” (LURD), has been in place since 1988 and makes kidney transplants possible in a shorter time period. The Iranian Kidney Foundation is in contact with healthy, willing living donors.
